Meet Corey Rowland

Corey Rowland was born in Galveston a little over 21 years ago. Since then has traveled a bit and joins Texas State from Tyler, Texas. He is an advertising major and wants to work in Houston, but also potentially move to New York.

When not attending classes or working at a local clothing store he enjoys both spending time on the golf course or out on a boat fishing. Nighttime in downtown San Marcos isn't too bad either, as he enjoys walking the square on Thursdays. Although he doesn't own any animals, because of roommates he currently shares his living space with 2 dogs and a cat.

Corey doesn't really care for any of the teams in the super bowl right now, the most important thing was that the New England Patriots did not win. When asked if he would rather fight one-hundred duck sized horses or one horse sized duck, he wisely chose the former answer.

Rebecca Mendoza Never Runs from the Shadows

Rebecca Mendoza is an impressive young senior of Texas State University and a lover of the cinema. She is an 18-year-old from El Paso, Texas where she spent her senior year of high school at UTEP before choosing to call San Marcos her college home. Although this Spring is technically Rebecca's first year in college, she plans to graduate by next May!

Ms. Mendoza is the youngest of three and spent much of her adolescence in Leon, Mexico where she attained fluency in Spanish. Rebecca currently lives, works and studies in San Marcos. The aspiring young woman works diligently with her studies meanwhile juggling a part-time job with the Department of Housing and Residential Life, or DHRL. Rebecca seeks to leave the university with a degree in Electronic Media in Spring, 2017 and aspires to use it in order to promote her cinematic career.

Needless to say, Mendoza loves film, especially of the horror genre. Award-winning directors such as Guillermo del Toro have inspired her to create a new level of horror to push the limits of fear and set the bar for the horror-making film industry with her innovative ideas. "I want to create a movie atmosphere where realistic fears captivate and terrify my audience. I aim to move away from Hollywood's artificial take on the supernatural which modern day horror films continue to recycle." Ms. Mendoza is positive, self-motivated and driven towards her goals of creating masterpieces of film and accredits her education at Texas State as a major milestone towards making her cinematic dreams a reality.

The aspiring young director looks forward toward the remainder of her time at Texas State and continuing to fuel her self-interests in the arts as well as her craving for sushi! If the consumption of raw fish doesn't scare her, I can only cringe as to the terrors that await her unsuspecting cast members.

She grew up with two brothers, one being older and younger. Her parents have since relocated to Minnesota for work, however; she decided to move to San Marcos, Texas to attend school.

Simone’s hobbies include listening to alternative music and lightly reading comic books. Simone also enjoys watching T.V shows like the X-files. Her favorites T.V series is Game of Thrones. She has seen all the episodes and has read all the books. One reason for Simone's dedication to this show is because she can identify with the strong, fierce female characters, like Daenerys Targaryen.

She is expecting to graduate Texas State University in 2017, with hopes to have an excellent career in the Mass Communication world.

Meet Kelsey Maxfield

Kelsey Maxfield is a Public Relations major at Texas State University.

This is Maxfield’s second year at Texas State and is part of the Delta Gamma sorority on campus. She enjoys watching movies at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema with friends, as well as at home through Netflix. She loves the comedy and action genres. Her favorite TV shows include Revenge, Vampire Diaries, Dexter and Breaking Bad along with The Office and New Girl. The Mission Impossible movies, Hitch, Bridesmaids, Transformers, and both Pitch Perfect movies are films that Maxfield loves to watch over and over again.

Maxfield has two pets, a border collie named Gus and a tuxedo cat named Ringo, back in her hometown, Plano, Texas.

During a trip to Colorado for church camp at the age of 14, Maxfield fainted in front of a group of people. When she was not feeling any better, she was sent to the hospital. Doctors believed she had developed Leukemia, but after some more research it was found that she had contracted an Adenovirus. The virus only lasted about a week and Maxfield has not had it since.

Over the winter break she helped her older sister Macie with wedding dress shopping. Maxfield is looking forward to her sister’s special day in April.

Griselda Benitez

Griselda Benitez

Griselda Benitez is originally from California but moved to Anna, Texas when she was 8 years old. In high school she was involved in the marching band all four years. She has one younger sister named Gabriela who is 17. Griselda is a sophomore at Texas State University and is majoring in public relations. Her hobbies includes: listening to music, reading news about technology, shopping, Netflix, and napping. Some fun facts about her is that she is not a morning person and has two dogs back in Anna, Texas. Also, during her latest winter break she went to Tennessee to visit family. She saw multiple films on her break which included Star Wars and she saw Krampus in a drive-in movie. Another interesting fact about her is that when she was two-years old she caught pneumonia and spent weeks in the hospital. As a result, to this day her parents are precautious and protective.

Meet Brian Drake:

Brian Drake was born in Long Beach, California but raised in Tracy, California. He is 29 with a wife and son who is 3 months old named Nathan. They got married in 2012 so they have been married happily for a little over 4 years now. Although he has a son already, he still wants to continue to grow his family.
Brian’s mother sadly passed away a few years ago. Due to they need of helping his father with their tragic loss and not knowing what to do, he chose to join the military. The branch he chose to go in was the Army, and the jobs he qualified for were chemical operations specialist as well as a medic, which is what he said was his favorite choice. Definitely the most interesting thing Brian did in my eyes was that he was in charge of putting fuel in George W. Bush’s helicopter.
After serving the Army for two years, Brian got his anus blown off by shrapnel while sitting in the gunner seat of a tank. Surviving and being able to receive medical leave after, he chose to retire early. With that being said, that’s when he chose to come to Texas State University where he is majoring in Advertising and minoring in Economics. Brian now receives great benefits and will forever be paid for his service on top of going to school. He also hopes to graduate next fall and is undecided if he will try to get a job in the advertising field.

Logan Paul is not just another College Student

Logan Paul Martin is currently a student at Texas State University majoring in Computer Science. He was born and raised a couple miles away from the University in Austin, Texas and is 20 years old.

Logan played college football the first 2 years of college in Southwestern University in Georgetown before transferring to San Marcos. He may seem like a normal college student whose favorite food is tiramisu but he has a few tricks down his sleeve that may surprise you.

Logan is actually an aspiring actor who’s actually been in a big screen film with some pretty big names from Hollywood. Last winter, he was Adam Sandler’s stunt double for the movie Men, Women, and Children based on a novel by Chad Kultgen. While filming the movie, he said he was “treated like a king” with all sorts of foods and treats for the actors on set. He attends many auditions and even one for a young Han Solo, which he didn’t know at the time. Logan continues to improve his acting by attending sessions with his acting coach, Mona Lee, and Britelite Acting Studio. He is currently and Intern at Variant Talent Agency and might want to pursue a career in that industry and become an agent himself.

Logan has also been a camp counselor for 4 years at the HEB laiky Lodge Youth Camp and would absolutely love to become director of the camp one day. Some extra fun facts are that in his free time, he enjoys doing crossfit and going to as many auditions as he can. This past winter break, he spent two weeks in Rome, Italy with his aunt and was able to visit cities around Rome such as Florence but is excited to be back in San Marcos.

Katherine “Kat” Huerta is a 20 year old sophomore at Texas State University and is currently an Electronic Media major.

Huerta was born in Lexington, Nebraska, but her and her family moved to Nahuatzen, Michoacán, Mexico, shortly after. Soon after moving to Mexico, her and her family moved back to the United States into Seguin, Texas. Huerta started her journey in Texas as a kindergartner. When she reached her sophomore year of high school, she joined the broadcasting staff. During her first year in the organization, she was just a staff member, but worked her way up to producer her senior year. She originally wanted to go to school for computer science, but the broadcasting staff sparked her interest in the editing process of film.

Huerta chose Texas State because she heard they had a great school of mass communication. She started off as a journalism major at Texas State, but soon realized she didn’t like writing as much. She then switched to electronic media because of her interest in film.

During her time at Texas State, Huerta has joined the Learning Community, where she has had the opportunity of shadowing DJ Val, from 102.3 The Beat, in Austin, Texas. Huerta is now an existing member on the news staff at KTSW.
